NEW JERSEY DEVILS TRADE 5 YEAR CAPTAIN ANDY GREENE TO CROSS TOWN RIVAL ISLANDERS; ALSO SEND BLAKE COLEMAN TO TAMPA

In a move that was somewhat unexpected, the New Jersey Devils have cut ties to their 5 year captain Andy Greene and have shipped him off to the New York Islanders in return for David Quenneville. The Devils also sent fan favorite Forward Blake Coleman, nicknamed “pickles”, to the Tampa Bay Lightning for rookie Forward Nolan Foote and a 1st round draft pick.

Fan reaction to the trade of their Captain Andy Greene was mixed, but fans were not happy when the news of the trade of Coleman broke. As one fan wrote “I’m going to cry myself to sleep at this point.”

The outlook is trending down in Jersey, as they are suffering yet another brutally disappointing season, which has seen the addition of star players like P.K. Subban and Wayne Simmonds and first round draft pick Jack Hughes result in the termination of General Manager Ray Shero, Head Coach John Hynes, and former MVP Taylor Hall.

The Devils are on their way to missing the playoffs 7 out of 8 seasons since reaching the Stanley Cup Finals and ultimately going home empty handed in 2012.
