Well Lakers fans, eat your hearts out. Not only do you have Lebron James and Anthony Davis under your roof at the same time. Now the “Greek Freak” Giannis Antetokounmpo just threw an absolute curveball to the NBA world with this statement to Mackenzie Salmon of USA Today Sports…
“I think that would be amazing. Obviously we’d spend more time together, and I’m 100 percent sure my mom would love that. But if we could like team up in a team in Milwaukee, L.A., wherever, that would be awesome.”

First, we should pump the breaks on the hype train for a second. Giannis and his agent have made it clear on multiple occasions that as long as they are playing competitive Basketball, remaining in Milwaukee is obviously one of their most realistic options after the 2021 season. And the last time I checked, the Bucks sit atop the NBA with a 46-8 record. So I would say the odds of Giannis remaining with the Bucks long term with his older brother Thanasis is the more likely option to him suiting up in Purple and Gold at the Staples Center with his little bro Kostas.
To be fair, Giannis was simply answering a question during a media availability. Also, the answer he gave is pretty much what you would expect. It would be a dream come true for just about anyone to play alongside two of their brothers in the NBA, especially with the path it took for the Antetokounmpo brothers to make it to where they are today. Plus, you would score some points with Mom too for letting your brothers play with you.
On the flip side, this is 2020, and with the current state of social media, this thing is going to blow up like aluminum foil in the microwave. There are some technical hula-hoops to jump through before Giannis and company to the Lakers can actually happen. (Hint Hint: Anthony Davis). Make no mistake though, the speculation that is going to grow from this 20-second clip is going to be like an avalanche. This will be on sports fans minds for hours on end, and basketball fans everywhere will be going bonkers over this answer ultimately until Giannis decides to let the world know which team he will Basketball for in 2021 (Currently taking bets on whether it will be via ESPN special or Player Tribune article).
So, obviously this question and answer must be taken with a grain of salt, but also must be, and will be, taken seriously in the minds of sports fans going forward. Will the day come where we see the three current Antetokounmpo, and possibly fourth Antetokounmpo brother making his way up the ranks to the NBA as we speak, all hooping together in a Lakers jersey? Or any other jersey for that matter? Only time could tell. Regardless, grab your popcorn Basketball fans. The events that will unfold before our very eyes after this (possibly borderline tampering) response from Giannis Antetokounmpo will surely not disappoint.
